About us

Les Newmans opened its doors in 1923.  Located in Downtown Salem Oregon.  They were know for selling high quality merchandise and customer service.  In the Mid 40s Charles Lester Newman sold Les Newmans to his two employees, Milo Syverson & Bill Reister.  Milo & Bill owned Les Newmans until Milo passed away in 1980.

After Milo passed away Bill wanted out of the business.  Milo's son Greg Syverson had an antique store in Salem.  When is dad passed he closed up the shop and bought Les Newmans.  Under the ownership of Greg Syverson the store saw tremendous growth.  Greg had two nephews, Sean & Ryan Pierce.  They came into the family business in the 80's.

In 1999 Les Newman's opened a second location in Bend Oregon.  The Bend location was run by Sean and the Salem store by Ryan.  Greg was still very much involved and would travel between both locations.

In 2003 after 80 years in the same location and leasing that entire time.  Greg and his wife Diane purchased a building one block south of the current location in Salem.  In 2005 the furniture store Nextdoor caught on fire.  It was a complete loss of all merchandise and building.  After things settled down from the fire Greg & Diane decided not to reopen the Salem location.

The Bend store is still located in the same location at 126 NE Franklin Ave Bend OR.  Greg ran the store until he passed in September of 2023.

After taking 17 years off from the family business Greg's nephew Ryan Pierce returned to take over ownership of the shop.  He is now the 3rd generation in ownership of Les Newmans.

We still take great pride in having an amazing mix of merchandise and customer service.

The right clothing and footwear are essential for ensuring comfort, durability, and functionality during various activities. This document aims to provide an overview of the key factors that contribute to the quality of outdoor, work, and lifestyle clothing and footwear.

Firstly, the materials used in the construction of these products play a crucial role in their overall performance.
