Hello! When I thought about all the boots and gear we offer and how our customers pretty much led us here by sharing what they wanted, it took me back to the beginning. Kenetrek Boots were born out of our passion for sheep hunting and our desire to find a pair of boots that wouldn't leave our feet beat up and screaming in pain when we strapped on a heavy pack, picked up a rifle or bow and headed above the tree line for a week of chasing sheep in rough weather. And since then, we've continued to design, test in the field, modify and repeat. . . regularly. We weren't surprised that hunters of all kinds, backpackers and hikers were just as passionate about what they do, but we were surprised by some of the requests our customers began sending our way. They wanted the same lightweight comfort and durability their recreational boots gave them in their work boots. So we answered with the Lineman Extreme, an ASTM approved safety-toe boot that linemen and other outdoor workers countrywide are raving about. But the letters kept coming. Our Wildland Firefighter friends asked for a firefighting boot with the same features as our mountain boots, so after two years of a meticulous design process, we passed rigorous heat and flame testing and proudly introduced our Wildland Fire Boot. Sure, they loved our new K-73's - a one-piece, vulcanized rubber sole that perfectly balances a soft biting grip with bombproof durability. . . but they missed the incredible comfort of the Mountain Extreme upper - so we've redesigned our Mountain Guide series to use the same proven, field-tested Mountain Extreme upper along with our very aggressive, deep tread K-73 outsoles. Our guide and outfitter friends kept pushing us to build a boot that kept Kenetrek's legendary all-day comfort, but in a platform with stability that matched a plastic boot. . . so who were we to argue? We've introduced the Guide Ultra - combining our EverStep removable nylon braces, providing incredible support for heavy pack loads with our Kenetrek K-73 outsole - the gold standard for high traction yet comfortable outsoles. And then there's our family of Low Hikers - the Bridger Low Hiker, waiting for a punishing trail run to conquer; our Corrie II - the first "Serious Light Hikers" you will ever experience; and the super-light, agile, ready to go anywhere Slide Rock Light Hikers. All three offer every kind of trail seeker out there exactly what they're looking for, and they all double as the most comfortable knock-around town shoes on the planet.
